According to research commissioned by the Law Society, profits at English law firms rose to a seven-year high in 2016, with average drawings for top partners at £136,000. Fee income in England increased by an average of 5.8%. Analysts attributed the general rise in profits to a combination of fee income growth and tight control of overheads.
